TECHNOLOGY SENDS LATEST ‘SHARK WEEK’ AIRBORNE AGAIN
Specials Employ Super Slo-Mo, High-Speed HD Cameras Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 8/1/2010 7:53:44 AM Discovery Channel will add technological twists to two of its specials, when it kicks off its 23rd annual "Shark Week" programming stunt on Sunday night.Ten years ago, Discovery premiered Air Jaws, famous for its image of a one-ton great white shark launching itself from the water for a sneak attack on seals off the coast of South Africa. The film ranked as the fifth-most-watched Shark Week special ever, according to officials at the programmer.On Aug. 1 at 9 p.m., Discovery will begin this year's Shark Week with the one-hour Ultimate Air Jaws, where producer Jeff Kurr returns to the scene this time armed with state-of-the-art HD equipment. Kurr and crew filmed the episode with an HD camera that shoots in super slow motion -- 2,000 frames per second, 20 to 30 times slower than typical slow-mo footage.Kurr and shark expert Chris Fallows slow down the footage of a breaching shark from one second in real time to almost a full minute. The fourth episode of the Final Destination series pop up like a poker faced message of the previous episode. The movie is featuring a collection of surprised unimaginable deaths and the usual array of Rube Goldberg but this time, the chain reactions rarely resulted in mayhem. Fate one of most important concern of the movie seems more random than that. The movie starts with a teen Bobby Campo, who has a vision of slaughter involving cars crashing and bleachers crumbling. Before he could hustles his girlfriend Shantal grandstands, their bad times already started. Once started, the killing takes place utilizing a car wash, a beauty parlor, and a tow truck. Cheapjack production explains the gruesome deaths occurred in the movie. Last night, July 18, saw the pay-per-view Money in the Bank 2010 event from WWE and many of you will be wanting to know the results. These evenings are always pure entertainment and usually throw up a few surprise defeats and wins so let’s take a look at what happened.The RAW Money in the Bank Ladder Match was won by The Miz, now that one definitely surprised me. The Miz threw off challenges by Randy Orton, John Morrison, Mark Henry, Evan Bourne, Ted DiBiase, Chris Jericho and Edge and will now get a chance for the championship, according to Techie Buzz.We also saw the Smackdown Money in the Bank Ladder Match and there was another major surprise, at least where I was concerned when Kane beat The Big Show, Matt Hardy, Christian, Kofi Kingston, “Dashing” Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler. RANGEL AGAIN CALLS FOR MILITARY DRAFT – SACRAMENTO BEE
WASHINGTON -- Rep. Charles Rangel is again calling for a military draft to highlight the fact that relatively few families are bearing a disproportionate burden in fighting the nation's wars.The New York Democrat introduced a bill Thursday to reinstate the draft, a symbolic gesture that has no chance of becoming law. Rangel previously introduced similar legislation in 2003 and 2007.Rangel said lawmakers who support the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan should require "all who enjoy the benefits of our democracy to contribute to the defense of the country."
Rangel said he supports President Barack Obama's efforts to eventually bring troops home, but he wants it to happen faster.
