Bachelorette Final Rose and Finale Update – It’s refreshing to know that Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez didn’t break up after the final rose or maybe months after this season. Early break ups from the couples of Bachelor and Bachelorette is not new any more since Jake and Viena just did months of their relationship. August 1, 2010 Golf fans wowed during inaugural Greenbrier Classic TOM BONE Bluefield Daily Telegraph WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS — The drizzle came down but the birdies came out on Saturday as a sizeable crowd milled about the inaugural Greenbrier Classic golf tournament at The Greenbrier Resort to watch PGA Tour professionals, and the scenery surrounding them. Golf fans oohed and ahhed as one professional after another worked the Old White Course at the 232-year-old resort. They were treated to low scores, culminating in a three-stroke lead by Jeff Overton going into today’s final round. He had six birdie holes on Saturday to go 4-under par, and is 18-under for the three days so far. The final round is scheduled to begin at 8:18 this morning, and CBS-TV will carry the conclusion from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. “I think it’s an awesome place, an awesome setup,” Overton said. In a 13-6 vote on Tuesday, the Senate Judiciary Committee approved Solicitor General Elena Kagan’s nomination to the Supreme Court. Among the least pleased about this endorsement are the signatories of a memo the Conservative Action Project (CAP) – a group composed of conservative leaders from various organizations that work to keep the movement in sync – has been circulating, which highlights the pitfalls of Kagan’s record. The letter pulls no punches. “With his nomination of Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court, President Obama once again fulfilled his threat to nominate judges who would decide cases on the basis of emotions and personal politics rather than fidelity to the original meaning of the Constitution,” it reads. “Kagan has no judicial experience, less relevant legal experience than any nominee in memory, and an extreme background of political activism that raises serious doubts about her ability to put the law ahead of a political agenda.” CAP member Al Regnery, publisher of The American Spectator, explained to The Daily Caller that the memo has been distributed throughout the country and to members of Congress. “It will be considered in the meetings where they are discussing Kagan,” he said. “What we are doing is reinforcing to conservatives across the ... [more..]

Sarah Palin and other conservatives are pointing to a "BOMBSHELL!" story in the Daily Caller as evidence of media bias in the "lamestream media." The story centers on a former listserv called JournoList. It documents how the members of the listserv - many of them journalists - complained about ABC News' treatment of then-candidate Barack Obama in a 2008 debate. In the ostensibly-private forum, JournoList members complained about the questions ABC News anchors asked during the debate about the Rev. Jeremiah Wright scandal, the story reveals. One urged other members of the list to call Mr. Obama's conservative critics racist to deflect attention from the scandal, while another pushed for collaboration on an open letter complaining about the questioning. Later, a member of the group called for journalists to ignore the Wright controversy. In a Facebook posting today, Palin called the story an "eye-opener," adding that "It's encouraging for commonsense conservatives who are frustrated with media cover-ups and biases to see truth revealed." Today, grandparents are more involved than ever before in the care of their grandchildren. However, at times, grandfathers -- that would be me -- can be the cause of some unintentional and unnecessary emotional trauma. "I'll be gone for about an hour, can you watch Jack and Josh while I am away?" my daughter Rachael asked. Jack is her 9-year-old son, and Josh is my son's 8-year-old boy. Shouldn't be any problem, I told her. I just have to pick up something up at the store and will be away for about 15 minutes. Since we live in a very confined community, she assured me they would be all right and off she went. When I returned home 15 minutes later I looked for them upstairs and downstairs, shouting their names, but had no response from the kids. I strolled outside expecting to see them playing in the yard or on the beach. They were not there. Probably went for a walk in the neighborhood. So, I drove my car around looking for them. Still no luck. I knew them well enough to know that they would not do anything as foolish as going swimming without permission. But could I be wrong?
