LOS ANGELES, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- U.S. actor and TV pitchman Dan Resin has died of complications of Parkinson's disease, his family said. He was 79. Born Daniel Wrzesien, he was best known for his "Ty-D-Bol" commercials and portrayal of obnoxious Dr. Beeper in the big-screen comedy classic "Caddyshack." He also appeared in the films "Wise Guys," "The Sunshine Boys" and "The Man with One Red Shoe." Dan Resin played the “Ty-D-Bol Man in the Boat” during the 70s.  he later also appeared in movies, such as Caddyshack, where he player Dr. Beeper. There have been many notable and peculiar deaths that have occurred in the sports world the past few years. Sometimes, a death can be explained, but, often times, the death of a player comes as a shock with no real answers. The sports world lost another great this week, and it seems like there is more to the story than what is being told.According to ESPN, after a 10-day search, former National Basketball Association player Lorenzen Wright was found dead behind an apartment complex in Memphis, Tennessee. Wright was last seen on July 18, when he was supposed to fly out of town and was never heard from. Then, on July 22, his family filed a missing persons report with the police. Wright was 34, and played 13 years in the NBA with such teams as the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Clippers. The investigation into his death is ongoing, and police are not revealing a lot of information at this time. Wright's death is similar to other notable and peculiar deaths in the sports world, such as Chris Henry. (AP) – 3 hours ago TUCSON, Ariz. — A medical helicopter crashed on a Tucson street and burst into flames Wednesday, killing all three people aboard. A witness said the pilot steered the plummeting chopper away from a house.Witnesses told The Arizona Daily Star the helicopter crashed into a fence in front of the house on Park Avenue just south of Glenn Street.The helicopter was owned by Colorado-based Air Methods. Officials with the air ambulance company confirmed that the pilot, flight nurse and paramedic were killed in the crash of the AS350 B3 Eurocopter, which was not transporting a patient at the time.Air Methods officials said the names of the victims would not be released until Thursday at the earliest.Federal Aviation Administration officials said the helicopter was traveling to Douglas from Marana at the time of the crash. The helicopter was in contact with air traffic controllers before the accident, and there was no indication of trouble, FAA spokesman Lynn Lunsford said.Ricardo Carrasco told the Star he saw the helicopter plummet to the ground after the rotors stopped working. (CNN) -- New Mexico authorities said a former employee shot and killed two people at a business Monday in Albuquerque before turning the gun on himself. Police said officers responded to a 911 call at 9:26 a.m. (11:26 a.m. ET) that multiple shots had been fired. When officers entered the building, they found a total of 10 people shot -- three were dead, including a man believed to be the shooter, officials said. Police said after the incident that six people had died in the shooting, then Monday afternoon revised the toll to three dead. Police said there had been miscommunication among officers and emergency personnel in the first counting. "We believe this incident to be a domestic-violence workplace situation," Albuquerque Police Chief Ray Schultz said. "One of the victims -- a current employee at Emcore Corp -- is believed to be the wife or girlfriend of the shooter," Schultz said. Police officials have since corrected earlier reports identifying the shooter as a female. Police also said that they have located the children of the offender and one of his victims. Albuquerque Shooting (KQRE) ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (CBS/KRQE/AP) A 37-year-old man shot and killed five individuals and injured four others in a mass shooting at an Albuquerque solar and fiber optics manufacturer, according to police, before killing himself. Police say the shooter entered the Emcore Corp. building late Monday morning and started to shoot. When police arrived at 9:29 a.m., they found multiple people injured from gunshot wounds. Two people were found dead on the scene preliminarily, four others were found injured. Two of those individuals are in stable condition and two are still in emergency care. After searching the building more extensively, police reportedly found three more people dead from gunshot wounds as well as a person they believe was the shooter. The shooter had a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police. Police said the shooter was a former employee of Emcore. The shooter was the spouse of a current employee, and she is among those shot, Schultz said. It is unknown at this time her condition. Walter Hawkins is dead at 61-years-old. The Grammy Award winning Gospel singer died of pancreatic cancer at his home in Ripon, California. Read about it below and see photos and a video of him performing ‘Oh Happy Day’ as well as a tribute video. Edwin Hawkins is the younger brother of Gospel singer Walter Hawkins. He reported that his brother died on Sunday, July 11, 2010. He had been battling pancreatic cancer. Hawkins’ cancer prevented him from attending the Stellar Awards In January, 2010 and the ‘Music & Arts Love Fellowship Conference’ organized by his brother in June 2010. The fact that he missed these events was the first time that Bishop Walter Hawkins’ illness was known to his fans. Walter Hawkins, 61-years-old, was born in Oakland, California and studied at the University of California, Berkeley. He earned a degree in divinity. He recorded his first album while studying at Berkeley in 1972. That album was ‘Do Your Best’. After he graduated from college, he founded the Love Center Church in Oakland. He later recorded a series of albums for which he won nine Grammy Award nominations. He won the Grammy in 1980 for his rendition of ‘The Lord’s Prayer’. He is probably best known ... [more..]
