The Federal Work Study Program (FWS), is a federally-funded program designed and set-up in order to help eligible students with the cost of their post-secondary education. The Federal Work Study Program assists students in the earning of funding via a part-time working program. The funds from the program may be used by the student at any of the 3,400 college institutions across the US that are participants in the scheme.The FWS program used to be called the College Work-Study Program, and the program, like many often federal grant programs, is based upon a student's financial need, and students must apply and meet various criteria in order to qualify for an award. Students deemed eligible for an award will join work programs organised through their colleges in order to earn money necessary for their tuition and extra college expenses.
