STEVEN WRIGHT’S TOP 10 QUOTES – EWORLD POST
Here’s the top 10 quotes from Steven Wright: - Imagine if birds were tickled by feathers. It’s a small world, but I wouldn’t want to have to paint it. When I turned two I was really anxious, because I’d doubled my age in a year. I thought, if this keeps up, by the time I’m six I’ll be ninety. If it’s a penny for your thoughts and you put in your two cents worth, then someone, somewhere is making a penny. If you’re not part of the solution, then you’re part of the precipitate. Right now I’m having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I have forgotten this before. Everywhere is within walking distance if you have the time. I intend to live forever. So far, so good. There’s a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot. Incoming search terms for the article:• steven wright Short URL: http://www.eworldpost.com/?p=8485 ... [more..]
]THE FINAL DESTINATION ENTERTAINS FANS AGAIN – EWORLD POST
The fourth episode of the Final Destination series pop up like a poker faced message of the previous episode. Fate one of most important concern of the movie seems more random than that. The movie starts with a teen Bobby Campo, who has a vision of slaughter involving cars crashing and bleachers crumbling. Before he could hustles his girlfriend Shantal grandstands, their bad times already started. Once started, the killing takes place utilizing a car wash, a beauty parlor, and a tow truck. Cheapjack production explains the gruesome deaths occurred in the movie. KING OF GALWAY WELD LANDS 306-1 FOUR-TIMER – RACING POST
Dermot Weld had a lot to smile about at Galway with four winners PICTURE: Caroline Norris DERMOT WELD, the undisputed king of Galway, landed a 306-1 four timer on day two, taking his tally for the seven-day festival to six. Weld, who had ten winners at last year's Galway festival, was more than halfway to that total after a fantastic Tuesday. Weld landed the first race with 13-8 favourite Universal Truth ridden by amateur Robbie McNamara, before Easy Mate landed the 6.20 at 12-1 under conditional Leigh Roche and 4-1 shot Zaminast, ridden by Pat Smullen, won the fillies' maiden at 7.35. Parlour, also ridden by Smullen and sent off as 4-5 favourite, completed the four-timer in impressive fashion. Weld had one other runner on the card, Northern Rocked, who went off the 4-1 favouritein the 8.05 but disappointed, finishing down the field and never getting into it under Pat Smullen. ... [more..]

FORMER GA. GOV. ROY BARNES WINS DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY; HANDEL, DEAL IN RUNOFF – WASHINGTON POST (BLOG)
Updated at 11:05 p.m. By Aaron Blake Former Georgia governor Roy Barnes(D) won his party's nomination for governor Tuesday, while former secretary of state Karen Handel and former congressman Nathan Deal qualified for an Aug. 10 runoff on the GOP side. Barnes defeated state Attorney General Thurbert Baker and five other Democrats in his race, getting nearly two-thirds of the vote. The Democratic Governors Association aims to be competitive for a seat now held by a Republican, Sonny Perdue, and Democrats are hopeful that Barnes's decisive win, while Republicans are still settling on a candidate, will give him a leg up in November. Handel and Deal led five rivals in the Republican race. With four-fifths of the vote in, Handel was first at 33 percent, while Deal took the second spot with 24 percent of the vote. Handel came into Tuesday's voting with the momentum, thanks in part to former Republican - Sarah Palin - Roy Barnes - Karen Handel - Sonny Perdue

POST DOCUMENTS GROWTH OF INTELLIGENCE SINCE 9/11 – THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
(AP)

WASHINGTON — Since the terror attacks of Sept. 11, top-secret intelligence gathering by the government has grown so unwieldy and expensive that no one really knows what it cost and how many people are involved, The Washington Post reported Monday.A two-year investigation by the newspaper uncovered what it termed a "Top Secret America" that's mostly hidden from public view and largely lacking in oversight. In its first installment of a series of reports, the Post said there are now more than 1,200 government organizations and more than 1,900 private companies working on counterterrorism, homeland security and intelligence in some 10,000 locations across the U.S.Some 854,000 people — or nearly 1 1/2 times the number of people who live in Washington — have top-secret security clearance, the paper said.Col. Dave Lapan, a Pentagon spokesman, said Monday the issue of redundancy within the intelligence community is a "well known" problem."We've been fighting two wars since 9-11 and a lot of that growth in the intelligence community has come as a result of needed increases in intelligence collection and those types of activities to support two wars," Lapan said.Defense Secretary Robert Gates previously had ordered the services and defense agencies to find ... BRITISH OPEN 2010: JOHN DALY FASHIONS HIS OWN PEACE AT ST. ANDREWS – WASHINGTON POST
He was startlingly visible on the fairways of St. Andrews in Thursday's opening of the British Open, in his robin's egg blue cap, salmon pink shirt, violet vest, and those slacks that looked like cheap motel curtains. But there was no drunk-tank behavior, no teeing off on a beer can. There was just a telltale plume of cigarette smoke -- a lingering vice -- and a series of solid, charismatic cracks off the tee, the sounds of strength meeting ease. His seven-birdie opening round of 66 was one of his most aggressive, yet rational, performances in a major championship since he won the 1995 British Open here.
The guy who used to be known as "Wild Thing" apparently is in need of a new nickname. What should we call him now?
"I don't know," he said. "Mild thing?"
It's risky to say anything definitive about Daly, given the whirls of his personal and professional lives, the heartbreaking dissipation, binges, divorces, and compulsive gambling that caused a winless streak from '95 to 2004. But he may be in the midst of a genuine resurgence.
He staggered through a disastrous 2008 in which he hurt his ribs, earned a six-month suspension from the PGA Tour for ... [more..]
FOR CHILDRENS HOSPITAL, ANYTHING GOES IN JUMP TO TV – SEATTLE POST INTELLIGENCER
The transition from web series to TV could have been tough for the often-grotesque medical satire Childrens Hospital -- a show where doctors get turned on by life-threatening surgeries and saving patients takes a backseat to highly choregraphed dance numbers, among other things. Fortunately for the show's fans, it isn't going to primetime: it's going to Adult Swim, where it's freakishness will fit in just fine.
"Adult Swim has the closest thing to an outsider's sensibility," executive producer Jonathan Stern says. "We figured that was the closest we could come to being on television without actually people thinking we were on television."

Creator, star and executive producer Rob Corddry (The Daily Show) launched the fictional series-within-a-series on TheWB.com in 2008 to mock medical procedurals like ER and Grey's Anatomy. Lake Bell provides the Meredith Grey-style voice-overs, and her character, Dr. Cat Black, is shown breaking up with 15 various partners in the span of a single "previously on" segment.
In an homage to a Season 2 episode of Grey's, Children's Hospital was embroiled in a race riot waiting to happen outside of the hospital. The big dilemna? Deciding which of two victims with a pole struck through them, one Caucasian ... [more..]
