TV HIGHLIGHTS: PAUL MCCARTNEY’S GERSHWIN PRIZE CEREMONY, Â’PLAIN JANE’ AND MORE
On new reality series "Plain Jane" (CW at 9), fashion expert Louise Roe tries to take a shy tomboy who loves baggy clothes and scuffed shoes and turn her into a stunning, confident gal who rocks tight dresses and high heels. In the premiere, Roe travels to Los Angeles to help 24-year-old music business assistant Cristen, who's had a secret crush on her buddy Ty for years but is planted firmly in "the friend zone." Lots of familiar D.C. faces show up on Wednesday night's "Top Chef" (Bravo at 9), as the contestants prepare lunch for politicians including Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Rep. Aaron Schock (R-Ill.), as well as TV anchors Savannah Guthrie, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, and chef Art Smith. Singer Mike Posner and dance group Jabbawockeez perform on "America's Got Talent" (NBC at 9) before four more acts get into the semifinals. "The Bachelor: Then and Now" (E! at 10) checks in with former contestants to see if their lives have gotten better or worse in the wake of their reality-TV stints. BRITISH OPEN 2010 PRIZE MONEY GOES UP: OOSTHUIZEN WINS BIG – ONLY KENT (BLOG)
The British Open 2010 reached its conclusion earlier on today and it was Louis Oosthuizen that won in big style, in more ways than one. The challenging weather conditions at The Old Course, St. Andrews in Scotland had made life tough for all the players, but it was Oosthuizen who gained his first-ever majors win, amazingly 7-shots clear at the finish (see earlier article).Now many of you are wondering what the prize money is for the British Open Championship 2010. In spite of the current economic climate you may be surprised to know the overall prize fund actually rose this year, for the first time since 2006. The total purse has risen by £600,000 this year to take the amount to £4.8 million, according to The Press Association. If you want an easy currency converter to see what that is wherever you are then go here.The defending champion, Stuart Cink, took home £750,000 last year, but Louis Oosthuizen will collect £850,000 this year.
